Waxing FAQ
What is hard wax?
Hard wax is applied to the skin and then removed without using a cloth strip. The benefit to using this type of wax is that it sticks to the hair and not the skin.

What is the process for waxing hair on the body and face?
First, we cleanse the skin to remove any perspiration, oils, lotion, or make up that may be on your skin. Second, we apply hard wax. In seconds, it dries to a flexible plastic and then is removed quickly. Third, we soothe and calm your skin with our cooling gel and then restore the pH balance of your skin.

What parts of the body can be waxed? If there is hair on it, we can wax it!

Does waxing hurt?
It can, but not as bad as you think. If you wax regularly, over time the pain becomes minimal and sometimes unnoticeable. Our elastic wax gently removes the hair from the root weakening the follicle with as little pain as possible.

Should I have a glass of wine or take a pain reliever before I come? What about numbing creams?
No, you don’t need to take a pain reliever or drink any alcohol before you come. Actually, drinking before you wax can have the opposite effect. Alcohol dehydrates you, and when you are dehydrated, your skin becomes more sensitive to pain. Numbing creams are not recommended. They will cause you to feel the heat of the wax more intensely, as well as create a barrier that may stop the hair from properly adhering to the wax.

How long does my hair have to be before I get waxed?
This can vary person to person depending on your hair type. A good rule of thumb to use is, if you can pinch it, you can wax it.

How long before the waxed hair grows back?
It is a long-lasting method, as hair in waxed areas will not grow back for two to eight weeks.

Is it safe to wax when I am pregnant?
Yes, it is perfectly safe to wax while you are pregnant. Women can and have been waxed right up to their due date.

I have eczema/psoriasis, can I still be waxed?
Yes, however, wax cannot be applied over skin that is irritated or broken. If you have a few spots of it, we can wax around it. Consult your doctor if you are concerned.

Is it ok to wax if I am sunburned?
No, you cannot wax if you have a sunburn. The skin is too sensitive.

Should I tan before or after I wax?
Tanning should not be done the day that you wax. You should avoid tanning 24hrs before and 24hrs after tanning.

After. If you spray tan before you wax, waxing will remove the spray tan when it exfoliates the dead skin cells. Since your skin will be freshly exfoliated, you should get great results from a spray tan after your wax.

I have my period, can I still get a bikini wax?
Yes, as long as you are wearing a tampon you can still get a bikini wax. It’s normal, everybody does it, so don’t be embarrassed. It is also important to know that waxing while having your period can be a little more painful than when you don’t have your period.

Will I bleed when I get waxed?
First time bikini and underarm waxing can sometimes cause minor bleeding, but it is nothing to worry about. Both are sensitive areas and if you have been shaving for a long time, the hair is very thick and coarse. When the hair is like this, it can bring a drop of blood up with it as it detaches from the follicle. It is completely normal and is nothing to be alarmed about. Over time with regular waxing, it will stop happening and the hair starts to grow in finer and thinner.

My hair is long, should I trim it before I come in?
No, let our experienced Wax Specialists take care of that for you. When you trim the hair yourself, you tend to cut of too much from certain areas. Doing this may limit the amount of hair that can be removed. If hair is trimmed too short, the wax will not be able to grab onto it. Let us take care of you.
